Janice Marie Rosewicz

Janice M. Rosewicz, devoted daughter, sister and teacher, 65, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on August 23, 2017 after a long and valiant battle with a degenerative lung disease.

Janice was born in Kansas City, Kansas and grew up there with her parents and her three brothers. She graduated from Washington High School, received a Bachelor's degree in education from Kansas State University and Master's degree in Education from Webster University.  She spent 30 years as a teacher with the North Kansas City School District with the majority of that time at Crestview Elementary School.  She was very active in Missouri National Education Association serving NKCEA on the Executive Committee, as 2nd Vice President, as National RA Delegate and as the Retired Teacher’s representative.  Following her retirement from the North Kansas City School District, she was a substitute teacher with the Piper School District and other area schools. She loved teaching children. She was a volunteer at Providence St. Margaret Hospital for 30 years and could be found staffing the information desk every Wednesday and Saturday evening. She was a lifelong Catholic and was an active member of the altar society currently serving as Treasurer. She was an avid reader and cross stitcher.

She cared for her mother by providing constant companionship and support following her father’s death in 1978 until her mother’s passing in 2013. She was a kind gentle soul who spent her life doing for others. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include three brothers, Gary and wife Liz of St. George, KS; Steve and wife Brenda of Platte City, MO; Phil and wife Amy of Linwood, KS; and nieces Jennifer, Katie and Jill, nephew Eric and great niece Olivia. She also leaves behind numerous life long friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions donations are suggested to the North Kansas City Schools Education Foundation, Pulmonary Fibrosis Research at Mayo Clinic, or the Christ the King Alter Society.

The family will receive friends, Monday, 6:00-8:00 P.M., August 28th, 2017, at the Mary Butler Meyers Funeral Home, 6300 Parallel Pkwy., Kansas City, KS. Where the Rosary shall be prayed 7:00 P.M.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at the Christ the King Catholic Church, 3024 N 53rd, K.C.KS.   Tuesday, 10:00 A.M., August 29, 2017. Burial will be Gate of Heaven, 126th & Parallel, K.C.KS.
