Julia Ann Burns
Lifelong resident of Kansas City KS passed away Wednesday July 19, 2017 at Providence Medical Center. Julia, fondly known as Mimi to her family and friends, was born to Robert L. and Julia M. Corriston. Julia graduated from Wyandotte High School with the class of 1947. She married George E Burns on June 3, 1950 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. To this union, one son, Robin F. Burns was born. Mimi worked for her father in bookkeeping at his mechanic garage on 18th and Central, at the Wyandotte County Courthouse, Todd Candy Company and finally retiring from United Gas Company.
She was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church. She volunteered at the hospital as a Gray Lady. She also was a member of the Ancient order of Hiberians and Daughters of Erin.
Mimi was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She always had a little snack for her kids. She enjoyed spending time with her family at Gardner Lake. She loved to sing and was very proud of her Irish heritage. Mimi and her husband were avid Kansas City Chief Fans and for many years had tickets in the first row at the 50 yard line.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Julia M, her husband, George and son, Robin. She leaves behind her Granddaughter, Carrie and husband, John Puls of Eustis, NE. Granddaughter, Kelly and her husband Julia's grandson in-law Craig Van Dyke of Poway, CA. Grandson, Robert J Burns of Wamego, KS. Loving Daughter-in-law , Sarah and husband Karl Heppler of Kansas City, KS. Her beautiful great grandchildren, Grady and Piper Puls and Gabriel and Ezekiel Van Dyke. Cousin Robert O’ Gorman of Kansas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday July 28, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church Kansas City, KS at 11 am. Visitation will also be at the church on Friday July 28, 2017 from 10 am to 11 am. Graveside services will follow Mass at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Butler-Meyers Funeral Home.
