Donald "Don" Richard Quinlan, age 71, of Belton, Missouri, passed away, October 8, 2012 at K.U. Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer.
Don was born in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the son of Eugene L. "Gene" and Estella "Marie" Quinlan. He was a life-long resident of the Kansas City area. Don graduated from Bishop Ward High School, Kansas City, Kansas, in 1961. After high school he began his career in the construction industry working for his uncles, Frank and Jim Quinlan. Don also worked for Art Penner Construction Company and ended his career in 2011 after working 26 years for Barsto Construction Company as a superintendent.
Don's love of life included carpentry work, time spent at the Lake of the Ozarks, especially boating and fishing activities, and motorcycle riding. He especially loved spending time with family and friends.
His was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Patricia A. Korte.
Don is survived by his daughter, Shawn Quinlan of Bentonville, Arkansas; his son, Mark Quinlan and wife Tana of Katy, Texas; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Hayden and Jackson; his brother, James "Jim" Quinlan and wife Janice of Kansas City, Kansas; many nephews, nieces, cousins and numerous friends.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, October 11, 2012 St. Patrick Catholic Church 94th & State Ave. Kansas City, KS. 66112. The family will receive friends 5:30-7:30 P.M., Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Mary Butler Meyers Funeral Home, 6300 Parallel Pkwy., Kansas City, KS., 66102 where the rosary to be prayed 6:00 P.M. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 38th & State Ave., Kansas City, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society
