Josephine "Jo" Helen (Brinza) Wolcheski, 88, passed away at home on September 10, 2012, after a brief illness. The last of six children, Jo was born in Kansas City, KS to William and Maryann Brinza. Upon graduating from Bishop Ward High School in 1942, she worked as a long-distance telephone operator during World War II. After the War, she met and married Frank Wolcheski. Once Frank retired from the Army, they returned home to KCK.
Jo was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was best known for her sense of humor and her youthful disposition. She is survived by her daughter and favorite nurse, Mary Conaty, and her two sons, Frank, Jr. (Martha) and Bill (Brenda), grandsons Christian Stimetz, Nicholas (Marty) Conaty, Blake and Nick Solo, and great-granddaughter Caramia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, her parents, all of her siblings, her son-in-law Darrel Corson, and her grandson, Anthony Conaty.
Visitation will be at Butler Meyers Funeral Home, 6300 Parallel Pkwy, KCK, from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, September 13, prayer service 6:30 P.M.. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 14 at 9:30 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 94 and State Ave., KCK. Burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jo's memory to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, 5445 Parallel Pkwy, Kansas City, KS. 66104 or to Providence Medical Center's Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit, 8929 Parallel Pkwy., Kansas City, Kansas 66112. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for Jo over the years and to Grace Hospice, which most recently cared for her. As miela ta ve, Mom.
