Dale L Wilcox

1932 ~ 2020 (age 88)

Obituary

Dale Leroy Wilcox passed away on November 22, 2020 at Olathe Medical Hospital in Olathe, KS. He was born in 1932 to Roy and Mildred Wilcox in McCook, NE. Everyone who met Dale was touched by his big personality. He was quite a jokester, and a great story teller; yet his stories often contained lots of knowledge and wisdom. Over his lifetime he loved to hunt, fish, read, play cards, play board games, chess and checkers (especially with his grandchildren). Dale enjoyed sports, especially football and baseball. He was a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed many camp outs. Dale was baptized in the Methodist Church and served proudly with the U.S. National Guard in Nebraska. He grew up in the country, helping his dad with Wilcox Drilling Company. He attended District 31 Country School and graduated from McCook High School where he enjoyed playing football for the Bisons. It is there where he met the love of his life, Phyllis Lorraine Dinnel. Dale and Phyllis were married in McCook, NE on March 4, 1950. Over the years their family grew to include five children. While raising their family, Dale held several different jobs. He worked for Coca-Cola, his dad‘s drilling business, was a dairy delivery man, managed an apartment complex, worked at Western Well and Pump Irrigation, and had his own well drilling business. Dale was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Mildred Wilcox, infant brother Gary Wilcox, brother Robert Wilcox, sister Dian Wilcox Parsons, sister-in-law Mary Dinnel Horinek Podhajsky, and grandson Jason Chase Wilcox.

Dale is survived by his wife Phyllis Lorraine Wilcox of Olathe, KS; Daughters: Linda A. Wilcox Allen and husband Joseph Allen of Ballwin, MO, Suzanne M.
