Obituary

Lillian “Mildred” Smith, 95, of Kansas City, KS, passed away March 18, 2022 at Shawnee Gardens Healthcare.  Mildred was born in1927 in McAlester Oklahoma, the daughter of David and Almie. Mildred grew up on a farm in Oklahoma. She moved to the Kansas City area in the 1950’s. She worked for years as a CNA at the Wyandotte County Nursing Home.  She was a very kind and loving person. If you knew her, you loved her. Stood strong for things she believed in. Loved her family unconditionally.  She enjoyed camping, fishing, board games, dominoes, cards and spending time with family and friends.  Loved her Church family and Tops friends.  Preceded in death by her parents; her husband John Thomas Smith; 5 brothers Lloyd, Hanford, Wayne, Ernest and Howard; one sister Wanda; 2 granddaughters Johnny and Nancy Jo. Survived by 2 daughters Nancy Taylor (Don) and Oleta Smith (Charley); 7 grandchildren Connie, Becky, Deanna, Cindy, John, Angela and Peggy; 41 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.  There will be a visitation on Thursday, March 24th at 10:00am with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00am at the Mary Butler Meyers Funeral Home, 6300 Parallel Pkwy, Kansas City, KS.  Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Glad Tidings Assembly Of God Church, 1315 N. 64th St., Kansas City, KS.
