Orlando Martinez

Orlando Xavier Martinez, 57, passed away on August 7, 2022 at Kansas City Hospice House. A visitation will be held Friday, August 26 at St Patrick Catholic Church, Kansas City, KS at 10am with the funeral immediately following at 11am. There will be a private burial at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. All are invited to a luncheon following the Mass at the St Patrick Parish Center.

Orlando was born December 15, 1964 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Henry and MaryAnn (Barela) Martinez. He married his best friend and love Marie Carroll on July 25, 1995 and together they raised five remarkable children. Orlando taught middle school English at St Patrick Catholic School for many years. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, camping, listening to the Royals on the radio, and making people laugh. His favorite way to bring joy was through his elaborate storytelling.

Orlando was preceded in death by his father Henry, and is survived by his wife Marie, his children Christiana, Joe Ben, Mary, Luke, and Maggie, as well as his mother MaryAnn and his siblings Anna, Andy, George, and Monica, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, his family asks for contributions to be made to the Kansas City Hospice House.
