Virginia was born to Vita and George Alonge on August 11, 1922. After spending much of her teen and early adult years embroidering, and sewing for others, she married a handsome sailor, named Joe Delgado. Aunt Virginia (also known by her Sicilian name as Aunt Cha) was always friendly and outgoing. She enjoyed dancing the polka at family weddings and welcoming newcomers into the fold.
Many of her nieces and nephews considered her to be one of their favorite aunts. She, in turn, was very proud of all her family members, displaying pictures and remembrances of them throughout her home. For many years she enjoyed making crocheted scarves or afghans for all the new babies in the family. She could sit and talk and never miss a stitch! Aunt Virginia was a strong, determined soul who blessed us with 99 + years. Even at age 90, she could often be found on a Sunday morning, walking five or six blocks to All Saints Church. She had a great devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and cherished the Blessed Mother statue that overlooked the irises in her garden.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Joe Delgado in 1999, and is survived by many nieces and nephews who have loved her and will miss her greatly.
